Southwark transfers docs with PCTI

Document management specialist PCTI has been awarded a contract to supply its Docman software to the majority of GP practices in NHS Southwark.

Thirty GP practices will move from their existing document scanning solution to Docman.

PCTI will also install its Electronic Document Transfer module, which will enable the practices to receive electronic documents into Docman, its optical character recognition software Intellisense to automate the filing process, and its iWorkflow solution.

PCTI said this would make sure that practices received documents immediately from hospitals, that they were filed quickly and with minimal user intervention, and that they entered a workflow for a GP.

Rene Mehta, head of information systems at NHS Southwark, said EDT was the main driver behind the primary care trust’s decision to deploy Docman.

He added: "Access to hospital letters has never been more important to primary care. Docman offers us a proven resilient solution.”

He said the iWorkflow module also offered benefits over other document management products that the primary care trust had tried.

Ric Thompson, managing director of PCTI, said the company was delighted to have another group of practices joining its 5,000 users of the Docman system.

He added: “There are many exciting new developments coming soon for Docman, already we are lining up for a great year providing further efficiency gains that ever before.”

Thompson said PCTI’s Back Office for Docman, its practice management system which is under development, would not only improve practices’ non-clinical document management but also support GP consortia to manage their new workload.
