PCTI launches iWorkflow engine

Document management specialist PCTI has launched a clinical document workflow engine which it claims will save significant time for GPs and practice staff.

PCTI said iWorkflow redefines the way its document management solution, Docman, delivers documents around GP practices, freeing up time for healthcare professionals and administrative staff.

The company said iWorkflow incorporates ‘intelligent routing’ to streamline the creation and processing of workflows and enables the flow of documents to be managed automatically, based upon the type of action required.

GP Dr Neil Paul from Ashfields Health Centre in Sandbach, Cheshire, has already used iWorkflow in his practice. The EHI Primary Care columnist said the engine had delivered productivity benefits for doctors and his scanning and coding teams.

He added: “One example is the ability to automatically workflow to a patient’s usual GP rather than manually looking up in the clinical system.

"This seemingly small addition saves a huge amount of time over the course of the week and allows us to spend more time on patient care rather than administration."

PCTI said its analysis of user interactions within document workflow led to 65 menu options being removed from Docman without any loss of functionality.

Ric Thompson, managing director of PCTI, said that as more and more document were transferred electronically it was vital for GP practices to have effective, efficient processes to handle them.

He added: “Feedback from our early adopters is that iWorkflow has been transformational for them. This is one of many exciting new developments that we have planned for them.”
