Microsoft SharePoint specialist Cloud2 has developed a platform to host six websites for NHS Wandsworth and its provider trusts.
The company has used SharePoint tools and components developed by the Common User Interface programme run by Microsoft and NHS Connecting for Health to develop the NHS Wandsworth site into a model that can be used for further sites.
The six sites that have been launched on the platform to date have all been 'skinned' to give them their own identity.
Authorised staff can update the sites themselves, reducing pressure on the web master. NHS Wandsworth has a well-developed SharePoint intranet, known as Staff Room, so its staff are already familiar with the tools.
Further planned developments include integrating the sites with the primary care trust's customer relationship management system, so different content can be promoted to different types of user.
“Here at NHS Wandsworth, we were looking at deploying our new websites on a platform which gave us all the 'rich' features such as content management and document management, but also integrated with our current in-house systems," said Allan Ruan, NHS Wandsworth web manager.
"Cloud2 understood our requirements and had the expertise and the drive to achieve this.”
