Capita wins £3.3m outsourcing deal

22 September 2009   Sarah Bruce

Capita has announced that it has won a £3.3m contract to become the ICT managed services provider for NHS Hounslow.

The managed service will see Capita IT Services delivering ICT to 71 locations and more than 1,200 users across the primary care trust's commissioning and provider arms and to general practitioners.

Capita will deliver a complete outsourced service, including network and infrastructure management, end user services, infrastructure hosting, syndicated disaster recover provision and security management.

It will also manage the service desk, which will provide a single point of contact for all IT incidents, service requests and queries.

Nick Relph, chief executive of NHS Hounslow, said: “NHS Hounslow was keen to appoint an ICT partner who had expertise in the healthcare market and could understand our specific requirements and translate these into a tailored managed service arrangement.”

In 2008, following an independent review, NHS Hounslow decided that working with an ICT partner would be the best way of obtaining the ICT services it required in the medium to long-term.

The primary care trust decided that this would enable it to deliver a greater level of service at a reduced cost.

Noel McNulty, director of Capita IT Services, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with NHS Hounslow as their ICT managed service provider.

“We believe that our experience and innovation with our existing NHS clients will enhance the managed services we are delivering in partnership with NHS Hounslow and will ultimately assist in delivering a more efficient service to the people of Hounslow.”
