Vision 4 looks further off

13 November 2008   Fiona Barr

Delivery of the new clinical system Vision 4 from GP system supplier INPS could be moved back to 2011.

The latest update on suppliers' planned release dates for NHS Connecting for Health applications shows that Vision 4 is being replanned; although the company’s hosted version of its Vision 3 system has become the first hosted solution to be approved under GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC).

The update, published this month, says that Vision 4 is in the scoping stage and suggested dates of summer 2009 for it to be compliant with GPSoC’s GP system requirements and the Choose and Book electronic booking system will change. “Release is being replanned, date will move back,” it adds.

Earlier this summer, a presentation from the London Programme for IT on primary care IT systems said that INPS was developing Vision 4 to provide full integration with London’s electronic health record; but that delivery was not expected until 2011.

Vision 4 has been earmarked as the core primary care solution for London since 2006.

Last week, EHI Primary Care revealed that BT, the local service provider for London, is in talks with LPfIT about the primary care solution and that it could drop responsibility for delivering new primary care systems.

The update on suppliers' plans to deliver NPfIT applications also shows that CSC, the LSP for three out of five national programme regions, has yet to sign its contract to deliver TPP’s SystmOne under GPSoC.

The GPSoC team has also yet to receive any plans from Waveform Solutions, the new entrant to the GP market, which signed a GPSoC framework agreement last year.
