1 September 2008

A new Lithuanian ehealth information website has been launched to keep health professionals and members of the public informed about the development of Lithuania’s National Electronic Health System (NESS).

Lithuania has a national e-health programme covering the period 2007-15. The national programme is jointly funded by the Lithuanian government €1.9m and the European Union €2.5m.

The www.Esp.sam.lt portal is intended to provide an overview of the development of e-health services in Lithuania and answer commonly asked questions about what services will mean for citizens and professionals.

As part of the online service there will be a forums section that allows clinicians, managers and adminsitrators to discuss e-health issues and topics.

“We are sure that this website will help all interested parties to understand how IT and its solutions in healthcare, e.g, NESS and other elements of the project eHealth services, will function and how they will ensure accessibility and quality of healthcare services for patients all other Lithuania,” said Evaldas Dobravolskas.

She added: “The website will conyain news about the project, legal acts and their drafts, links and other information.”
