A new referral management system at King’s College Hospital NHS Trust is allowing clinicians to triage referrals electronically within 24 hours. The latest version of the NHS Wales data dictionary has been published. The dictionary, which is maintained and published by the NHS Wales Informatics Service, provides a definitive guide to definitions and interpretations to nationally-agreed data standards. The latest release, v.4.0, is the first to be made available on the internet, and also the first to be open to systems suppliers, academic organisations and other NHS organisations outside of Wales.

IMS Maxims has unveiled a new version of its emergency department system, which includes graphical screens to allow the real-time tracking of patients locally, regionally and even nationally, and support for patient pathways. Once treatment is completed, a discharge summary can be generated automatically for GPs.
