Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has awarded Civica a five-year contract to supply, deliver and host Paris.
Derbyshire is reviewing its business processes and building a new integrated platform, to provide a comprehensive electronic patient record.
Civica will be working with the trust’s project team to consolidate its IT systems, implement and configure the EPR, and improve the delivery of communication support.
The trust will phase in paper-light information systems and extend mobile working, which should be particularly beneficial to community-based staff, who often work in patients’ homes. The project is scheduled to roll out across the trust by 2014.
John Staley, project manager, Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The planned move from paper-based processes to electronic records demonstrates our commitment to enhancing delivery of care for patients.
"This also provides the basis for us to pursue wider transformational initiatives.”
Derbyshire carried out a pilot programme to analyse its business processes and how it shares information among personnel and third parties.
It then decided to use the NHS Shared Business Services Clinical Information Systems Framework to identify a preferred supplier. Civica was selected out of the four suppliers available under the framework.
David Roots, managing director of Civica’s health and social care division, said it was “delighted” to be working with the trust on a project that would help its staff “to work flexibly while having access to full patient history and e-prescribing.”

EHealthInsider: RT @linda_davidson: #hfma. Current systems bad at reporting total costs of care. Also costs and quality loss when systems are in transition.
