The representative body for the UK’s telehealth and telecare industry, the Telecare Service Association, has formed a partnership with the Continua Health Alliance to work towards the advancement of telecare internationally.
The agreement will combine TSA’s skills in standards development in telecare and telehealth with Continua’s development of interoperable healthcare guidelines.
The two will develop telecare over IP use case to ensure an international standards approach and attempt to establish a technical system that is certifiable.
David Foster, TSA board director, said: “The significant experience of the TSA membership across telecare and telehealth, and our unique position within standards development for the industry, will assist Continua Health Alliance in their work towards interoperability in the connected healthcare industry.”
The organisations aim create and use a use case to showcase interoperable systems for the ageing population and allow information to flow seamlessly into health records.
Chuck Parker, executive director, Continua Health Alliance, said: “Continua Health Alliance is dedicated to enabling a marketplace of personal connected health solutions to empower consumers and patients to manage their personal health and live comfortably in their lives.
“Continua has developed design guidelines based on existing standards and determined use cases to ensure interoperability in the development of Continua Certified devices. We are excited to work with TSA developing these use cases, with their commitment to standards in the connected healthcare industry.”
