Hillingdon implements Imprivata OneSign

19 April 2010

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust has implemented Imprivata OneSign, giving more than 3,500 clinicians access to the single sign-on technology.

The ongoing rollout of OneSign across the trust’s two main sites will provide users with a single point of secure authentication to multiple applications, including the patient administration system, pathology, radiology and PACS.

Imprivata says the trust should eliminate up to 15% of its password-related helpdesk calls and save IT administrators up to 30 minutes per logged call.

“Inevitably, with individual passwords for each application, users forget these details, leaving them unable to access applications, which in turn impacts productivity and patient care,” said Kevin Fitzgerald director of information technology and telecommunications.

“With Imprivata OneSign, users can access multiple systems through a single password and they have the ability to reset certain passwords locally, taking the burden and cost from the IT helpdesk and more importantly keeping clinical staff connected to critical applications and patient data secure.”

The implementation of OneSign is being delivered through Imprivata reseller and NHS Security specialist BMS.

“Clinician productivity and patient data security are two of the primary IT concerns within the NHS today,”said Omar Hussain, chief executive officer and president, Imprivata.

“We look forward to helping The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust and others address the critical business issue of ensuring secure access to patient health information."
