Liverpool Women's integrates with ClearSpan

12 March 2009   Sarah Bruce

Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has chosen ClearSpan Server to integrate its Meditech health information system with several other departmental systems.

The hospital has seven systems that do not connect to the Meditech HIS and the software provided by BridgeForward will allow systems to be connected and updated at all times.

The trust says this should mean fewer mistakes being made; for example, information being sent to the wrong address.

Dr Zafar Chaudry, director of information management and technology at Liverpool Women’s, told E-Health Insider: “It’s very early in the game at the moment; we’ve been waiting to have this kind of functionality for many years so the first level of integration is a huge leap for us.”

“We’re currently scoping and carrying out project planning. The first phase of integration will probably take around six months to implement.”

John Moriarty, BridgeForward’s chief executive, said: “ClearSpan Server is installed in 4,000-5,000 hospitals, GP and physician offices and its pretty much bullet proof.”

BridgeForward recently launched a new application, Physician Integrator, aimed at primary care users.
