Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has chosen Computer Science's Corporation (CSC) partner BlueWare to provide electronic document management, under a £14.3m deal.
Bradford will use the BlueWare system to enable it to eventually stop storing all paper based medical records from its on site record stores. The system will form a key component of the trust’s future electronic patient record.
The contract is separate to CSC’s contract deliver the NHS care records service (CRS) at Bradford and is not part of the National Programme for IT. After a formal OJEU procurement Bradford selected CSC as its preferred delivery partner for a clinical document management solution. CSC is leading the contract alongside Blueware, Mailsource and eMC.
The foundation trust will implement BlueWare's Clinical Document Management System, Wellness Connection, an electronic patient record, utilizing electronic capture, document imaging, clinical multimedia imaging, and biomedical integration.
The system will support the replacement of paper based medical record, by means of scanning, interfacing with electronically produced documents and interface to existing systems, as well as all potential future systems in line with the NHS National Programme for Information Technology (NPfIT).
The BlueWare software collects data and images from various sites in a hospital by capturing, compressing and indexing it into electronic patient records folders under the appropriate tabs.
The solution will provide clinicians and other care-givers with secure and quick access to up-to-date information wherever and whenever they need it; at the same time helping them work more efficiently and reduce costs.
Bradford will be BlueWare’s third installation in the UK. BlueWare’s CEO and president Rose Harr said, "This partnership will give us an even greater presence in the country, and partnering with such a highly esteemed trust will no doubt be good for our existing customers."
