iSoft has signed an agreement with US-based single sign-on specialist Sentillion, to become its first healthcare channel partner in Europe.
Sentillion provides single sign-on (SSO), context management, and user provisioning technologies.
As a result of the deal, iSoft will offer NHS trusts the opportunity to purchase new SSO technology with its software, enabling staff to sign on just once to use any applications on their system.
An iSoft spokesperson told EHI that the deal was not part of their contract with local service provider CSC, and added: “There is a lot of potential available to trusts by using SSO from Sentillion. Clinicians will be able to sign on just once for iSoft applications such as iPM and iCM, as well as other third party systems.”
Using Sentillion’s ‘plug-and-go’ expreSSO sign-on technology, clinicians using NHS Smartcards can swiftly authenticate to local and national applications.
Sentillion’s applications are already used in trusts including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, and City Hospital Sunderland, and is also used in another 560 hospitals worldwide.
Paul Richards, managing director of iSoft UK and Ireland, said: “These solutions manage single sign-on across multiple applications and allow users to easily switch between applications seamlessly while retaining patient context. Compatibility with NHS Smartcards also speeds access and retrieval of data. We are pleased to be working with Sentillion to offer this wide range of solutions to our customers today.”
iSoft are Sentillion’s first UK partner and will be offering its customers the Vergence SSO context management suite and the expreSSO software, both developed exclusively for healthcare.
John Gobron, vice president of worldwide channel sales for Sentillion, told EHI: “Working with iSoft is a great way for us to look to replicate success we have had in the US to trusts in the UK, who are seeking to link together disparate systems so that with one sign on, they can access any system they have authorization to without needing to re-key any authentication details.”
“iSoft’s renowned expertise in clinical systems wonderfully compliments Sentillion’s pedigree in delivering world-class identity and access management to healthcare,” added Paul Roscoe, president of Sentillion.
A UK demo centre will be created to showcase Sentillion software working with iSoft applications.
Paul Malcolm, UK general manager for Sentillion, said: “Our goal is to create a convenient way for iSoft’s customers to experience and understand the value of these products.”
Richards added: “Our partnership with Sentillion via its Channel Partner Program allows our customers to benefit from the industry’s most comprehensive set of solutions for single sign-on and context management.”
