I was at the Wessex LMC IT conference yesterday, where there was a very interesting presentation on a locally created referral system. When the room was asked if they would continue using Choose and Book when national funding ran out, nobody raised their hand - but there was plenty of interest in the local solution.

Just read the article regarding General Practice Extraction Service (http://www.ehi.co.uk/news/industry/7543/one-supplier-to-go-for-gpes) One of the requirements I've been recently looking at is getting immunisation data from GP's.

Community Information Datasets - SNOMED mapping

Has anyone had any experience of mapping the requirements? We're just in the process of introducing Care Plans on our RiO system using SNOMED CT but I'm finding our Data Warehouse is creating slightly conflicting reporting requirements to support CID (http://www.ic.nhs.uk/services/in-development/community-information-programme/community-information-data-set-cids).

GP Systems of Choice is coming to an end in less than 15 months. Any thoughts on what people like to see replace it and how the different roles involved might be divided up nationally and locally?

Ignoring the IT system support which can be provided by anyone. What do people anticipate for health informatics? Will it be small firms working for a several CCGs, contracted in for short periods, the GP Suppliers extending into community.
