CCIO <-> Coder Interface - Ripe for Innovation?

Created by wai2k
Buzzing from enthusiasm and energy in NHS HackDay 2012, inspired by 'Code for America' and recognising that 'Innovation happens at the interface', I'm putting out a call out to CCIOs and other clinicians to open up their organisation to allow coders to observe how we work with patients in hospitals.

Does a CCIO need to be a practicing clinician?

Created by Jon Hoeksma
One of the key questions for any clinical information leader is whether they need to be a practicing clinician? What's the ideal balance between retaining clinical practice, experience and credibility and fulfilling the role of a Chief Clinical Information Officer?

The IT dept should be a delivery agent, not the proposer and owner of clinical and administrative application Business Cases

Created by John Aird
Yes we need to ensure that a Trust’s money is spent in the best corporate interest, but IT demand exceeding what is affordable, perhaps the application of bureaucratic ROI based Business Cases makes IT being an easy target.
