In summer 2011, eHealth Insider launched the EHI CCIO Campaign, calling for NHS organisations to consider appointing a chief clinical information officer to champion IT projects and the use of information. The CCIO group explores the new role and how CCIOs can be developed in the health service.

The CCG, the CCIO, the Data Controller and the Caldicott Guardian by Dr John Lockley

Created by jojo-louise 129 weeks ago
What should be the relationship between the CCIO, the Data Controller and the Caldicott Guardian in the CCG? The whole situation is complex, and still evolving.

Should CCIOs be Caldicott Guardians also?

Created by jwaktare 132 weeks ago
To put some context on my discussion, I should explain that I am my Trust's Caldicott Guardian, and more recently I am gravitating towards a role that could reasonably described as a "de-facto" CCIO.

What role should a CCIO have in a CCG?

Created by jojo-louise 136 weeks ago
Please have a look at Dr John Lockley's white paper on this topic that he is submitting to his CCG on THURSDAY 10 MAY. He welcomes your comments and suggestions so please do take the time to read and to share your thoughts http://www.ehi.co.uk/insight/CCIO/890/the-role-of-the-ccio-in-the-ccg Thanks!

Are you positioned to keep up with 'the boss'?

Created by Jean Roberts 139 weeks ago
In the job spec for the NHS CB Director of Patient Insight (and Informatics) it states that candidates should ''lead the IT function for the Board and will lead efforts to mine data which currently sits in silos across the NHS", and "use informatics in service improvement" These phrases imply the need for health informatics professionalism in the handling of health-related data, possibly by third party infomediaries and 'any qualified provider'.
