This is a discussion about the planned CCIO Leaders Network Events taking place in 2012...
Events form a big part of our planning for the CCIO Leaders Network in 2012
We're planning two kinds of events.
The first will focus on different aspects of professional and career development for current and future CCIOs. What are the skills the training and development requirements needed to become an effective CCIO?
The second set of events will focus on what are the clinical objectives a CCIO can help achieve. On these events we aim to partner with different Royal Colleges to focus on the specific clinical goals and objectives that a CCIO, working in say mental health, can help his or her colelagues achieve through leadership on information.
The schedule for 2012 is shaping up and we'll post more details soon, but we really do need suggestions for themes, topics and speakers.

Interesting professional development themes that have already been submitted include:
• Identifying and cultivating future CCIOs
• Building a career path for CCIOs
• The ROI for CCIOs
• Translating the US CMIO experience to the NHS
Please keep ideas coming in via our Network co-ordinator Josephine Weir on josephine@e-health-media.com
We are holding a workshop event in June with the clinical health informatics forum based in the North of England where we hope to discuss the business cases for CCIOs, to clinicians from a wide range of disciplines and with a variety of different responsibilities.
This is with the aim of developing a range of cases that will support the cause of CCIO in each NHS organisation, but we hope to include every perspective in order to paint as full a picture as possible.
Should you have any views relating to the business case / ROI for CCIOs and how you think they would benefit or perhaps not be appropriate to an organisation please post here so that we can better inform the discussion.
We are happy to announce that the CCIO Leaders Network Launch event is taking place on the 8th March, and is being run in conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians. The Secretary of State for Health is formally launching the network in what promises to be a very exciting and interesting afternoon. There will be photos and coverage on the site so that you can find out what went on! A full programme will be published nearer the time so that you can see what will be going on.
Our first official event as part of the CCIO Leaders Network events programme will be taking place on 29th March in partnership with the Clincial Leaders Network. It will focus on identifying what makes a great CCIO, the priorities within this role and will give clinicians already undertaking CCIO type responsibilities to network with one another. We can start the debate here - what skill sets are required to be a 'successful' CCIO and what should be meant by the term success in regards to this role?
If there are any other questions that you feel should be discussed during one of our events happening this year please feel free to put them here and we will work to incorporate them.
