What is the CCIO Leaders Network?

The CCIO Leaders Network has been established to promote and develop chief clinical information officers across the NHS.

The CCIO vision and 12 point plan, launched in January 2014, details how CCIOs can help to deliver an improved health service through a clinically led information agenda, and the CCIO Leaders Network is now working to promote it at all levels.

The CCIO Leaders Network also delivers an extensive programme of events with its partners, the highlights of which are the annual summer school in July and the CCIO Leaders Network Annual Conference in November.

Sign up to express your support, be sent more information, and to opt to receive our regular newsletter, which includes provocative columns, profiles, and advance notice of events and other ways to contribute to the development of CCIOs.

Join us on 31st October for our second Best Practice webinar presented by Adrian Byrne, Director of Information Management and Technology at Southampton University Hospitals.

Hospitals order thousands of tests per day, and many are now doing this electronically. The results are no longer filed in notes but how do we know they have been actioned? Just because someone has looked at them does not indicate acknowledgement. Who are the right people to sign off on things, and how is this performance managed? We cannot force people to acknowledge things that they did not request, but then we cannot force the individual requestor to acknowledge all of their personal orders, as they tend to work in teams, and might not be around. This sounds easy, but it is far from simple to get right. Any result that slips through is a potential risk to the patient.
