What is the CCIO campaign?

The CCIO Leaders Network has been established to promote and develop chief clinical information officers across the NHS.

The CCIO vision and 12 point plan, launched in January 2014, details how CCIOs can help to deliver an improved health service through a clinically led information agenda, and the CCIO Leaders Network is now working to promote it at all levels.

The CCIO Leaders Network also delivers an extensive programme of events with its partners, the highlights of which are the annual summer school in July and the CCIO Leaders Network Annual Conference in November.

Sign up to express your support, be sent more information, and to opt to receive our regular newsletter, which includes provocative columns, profiles, and advance notice of events and other ways to contribute to the development of CCIOs.

Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group (the CCG) has been leading the way in the local borough to ensure that health and social care organisations are working together to deliver a more integrated approach to support the population of 320,000 people.
Essential in this challenge is having strong and robust Information Governance and Data Sharing Controls in place. Primarily data controllers need to have assurance that information they give access to is secured and used appropriately, but more importantly patients need to be assured that their information is only accessed by clinicians involved in the delivery of their care and with their consent built into the process.
The Webinar, presented by Jonathan Kerry, Head of Business Information at NHS Wigan Borough CCG, outlines how we have approached this challenge, the work completed to date and how we are driving forward to make a big difference to care delivery in Wigan.
