Through our work with over 130 NHS Trusts, we are frequently asked how information projects can deliver the most value. The answer is very simple - clinical engagement. User adoption at the clinical level has been shown time and again to enable the cultural change which is key to delivering efficiency and best practice from good, trusted information. Without the conduit to the clinical teams which the CCIO role enables, this cultural change takes significantly longer and may never fully happen. Good luck with the campaign!
Health Informatics has long been described as the ‘lifeblood’ of the NHS, fundamental to the operation of many healthcare related functions that deliver care to the patient but is too often not seen as a board level priority in NHS Trusts and so UKCHIP is delighted to support the campaign for appointment of CCIOs.
Dell understands the difference that clinicians make to the adoption and use of IT and we have been actively recruiting clinicians to our healthcare division for the last 10 years. Our global experience has shown that CCIO’s are vital to improving IT adoption and successful use and we fully support EHI’s CCIO campaign
